Mining Red Bull

Summize.com seems to be a pretty good approach to people search. The search results bring out a completely different perspective from Google etc.Today while trying it out, I saw something which would interest data mining people:

http://summize.com/search?q=red+bull

As you can see, my search for red bull brought up many instances of people comparing red bull to coffee. In case your search results don't show that, here is what I saw --

This probably shows some close patterns which exists among people, which we should understand more and exploit to gain more meaningful insights. Do most people consider Red Bull and coffee from one and the same league. For some, this might be blatantly obvious. For some like me, who never saw the two drinks together, this is cooool :-)

Amsterdam!

I have been spending the last couple of days here at CWI, Amsterdam. As the past few months, I have been exposed to some really state-of-the-art technologies by its leaders. This time I am learning knowledge management techniques and how the Semantic Web is using these ideas to create some really useful tools: www.geonames.org, www.dbpedia.org. We need to take our event systems in the semantic web directions. The ability of being able to recieve machine processable information on runtime is something that is not put to full use yet.

Went out a couple of times too, first to Oosterpark, then the ships meusuem. The thing most striking about the Netherlands is the transport system. They have amazing infrastructure for people dependent on bicycles to get them around. Being a relatively small place, bicycles are a good option to travel around here. Yesterday we went to the Gare de l'est. This was my first time with french cuisine. And I must say, it really met my expectations. You could feel so many different tastes in single bite of food. The dessert later was mind blowing! Lime Pie and Lemon ice cream. Wonderful!
